Aidric-isms
Well, it took Aidric a long time to start talking. But, as Tim likes to say, the problem now is getting him to shut up! He is still not understandable 100% of the time and his grammar can be a little mixed up (like he'll say, "Mommy take bed me" -- which means, Mommy put me to bed).
The way he says "Yes" is too cute. He says "Desssssss", stringing out the "s" like he's a snake. And he whispers it. And sometimes with his chin down on his chest and his eyes up, like he's embarrassed.
He will out of the blue climb up into my lap and say, "I like you Mommy" or "I love you Mommy". He could not be any sweeter.
I told him once that something he did made me sad. And he picked up on that phrase. Now, he will mill around the house crying and wailing "I'm so sad" whenever something is bothering him. Or he will curl up in a ball on the floor or on a chair, sobbing that he's "so sad". "I'm so sad, Mama". It is the height of pathetic! Casden and I were looking through Casden's baby scrapbook and Caz asked me where Aidric's scrapbook was, and I admitted that I had not made him one yet. Aidric apparently overheard this conversation, because at dinner that night, he had curled up into a ball on his chair and was saying he was so sad. I asked him why he was so sad and he replied, "So sad, no baby book". Oh, the guilt!! I started his scrap book the next day!
Quirky Casden - isms!
Casden was playing outside with Padget at Baba's house. They were playing on the hammock, which was connected to 2 posts in the ground. On top of one post sat a giant 20 lb bird feeder/bird house. Padget leapt onto the hammock, the one post sheared off at the bottom (20 year of the elements had taken their toll), and the bird feeder crashed down on Casden's head. He had a nice laceration that required 3 staples along with a giant goose egg. Throughout the whole experience, he was very stoic, not crying or anything. Really taking it like a man! When asked if his head hurt, he said yes. When asked if it was a pain like a cut or a pain inside his head like a head ache, he replied, "I'm not sure. It just keeps blinking." That's apparently his way of saying he could feel the throbbing of his pulse in his cut. When we were at Med Express getting the laceration cleaned out, the nurse scrubbed it out real good and left the room. Casden said, "It's blinking again!"
Casden does not say "yesterday". He always says, "It happened the day before this day". Always. Even when you explain to him that that means it happened yesterday, he will just look at you and say, "Yes, the day before this day."

Diabetes
So, Pop-Pop has diabetes. It's a running joke that everytime he has sugar, the kids and us tell him that his foot is going to fall off. Okay, so a rather sick joke, but it amuses us. Anyway, tonight, Pop-Pop was trying to take a 3rd cookie off the cookie tray and Casden declares, "It's okay, Pop-Pop. When your foot falls off, my mommy will study it!" Too funny!

Mommy Guilt
I just finished up my 1st semester in Nursing School. I study a lot. The kids notice this, but they don't usually say much. I came home one night, the week before my final exams, and find the following written on the white board in the play room:
"Daddy rocks!" (with a smiley face)
"Mommy studies" (with a frowney face)
It just killed me. Hopefully, when my schooling is all said and done, the kids won't remember the time that I spent studying instead of playing with them.
Sigh.

Babies!
Padget's Aunt Jenny is pregnant. She teaches 6th grade at Padget's elementary school. Jen pulled her out of class to tell her the good news. Padget ran back into her classroom, opened her arms out wide, and declared "She's havin' a BABY!!"
When Padget came home from school, I was on the phone with my mom. Padget got on the phone to tell Grams the good news. Padget was telling her that Aunt Jenny is pregnant, her 1st grade teacher is pregnant...Grams replied, "Wow, it must be in the water." Padget, a little perplexed, said, "No, Grams, they're in their bellies!"

Big sibling lesson
Padget just finished explaining to Casden that, "Everything has boogers...except for fish." And Casden nodded and shook his head, like, yes, of course, that makes sense.

From the mouths of babes...
Tim has been watching the kids a lot today because I have been studying for my A&P midterm which is tomorrow. He made the kids dinner, but forgot their drinks.
Casden yells "Where are our drinks?"
Tim responds, "It's tough being a dad."
To which Casden responds, "Yea, it must be hard to yell all the time."
Tim certainly does yell a lot, especially at the Caz-man. And it, apparently, does not go unnoticed.
